Writer — Long-distance Cyclist
Hi, I’m Tom. I write stories, fiction and non-fiction. Voices haunt me and I am compelled to record them.
More recently, when most people are looking to slow down, I took up long-distance cycling. I spend months at a time in the saddle criss-crossing continents exploring remote corners of the world. I am fascinated by the stories I encounter that are so far removed from our daily lives and concerns in the West.
Incidentally, that’s me with Pablo Neruda, the great Chilean poet. I’m sitting at his table in what was his habitual haunt in Santiago. I stumbled upon the restaurant by accident on a rest day while cycling the length of South America. I’ve been reading Neruda since I was a teen.
